Florida Cactus

8/18/2020

I'm not sure when my obsession with cacti started, but this place doesn't help. Florida Cactus is a nursery in Apopka that has every cacti and succulent imaginable. It's literally a cactus lovers dream and I can't wait to go back to get more plants for our home!

The first thing you do before walking in is check into the office. They give you a piece of paper with a map and instructions and a box to put your cacti in. It's free to get in, the only thing you pay for is the actual plant.
As you can see in the pictures, there are rows and rows of cacti. There's literally every kind you can think of. You can get colorful ones, big ones, spiral ones, circle-shaped ones, and so much more. There's no way you'll walk out of here empty handed. You can take as much time as you want to browse and return to the office at the end to pay for what you found. Their inventory includes grafted cacti, regular cacti and succulents, lithops (living stones), dish gardens, and potting soil.

The prices depend on what you get. The smaller the succulent, the cheaper it is. The prices range from $1.75 to $150. We bought a couple of small ones but definitely want to come back for the beautiful, tall cacti they have. It's the perfect home decor to make your space look more lively.

Here are some tips before going we wish we would've known. First, wear comfortable shoes because you'll be walking a lot. Also remember it's a greenhouse so it is EXTREMELY hot, especially in the Summer months. I recommend wearing shorts.

Since the gyms have been closed Duncan and I have been having to get creative with our workouts. We do some at-home workouts, but being home all day can be a drag, especially since Florida has been having the BEST weather lately. We decided to start running. We've been working our way up to 1 mile of straight running everyday and are continuing to push ourselves every time. It helps when you have a beautiful view so we've explored Orlando and have come up with a list of the best trails in Orlando and will continue to add to this list.

After 26 years of living in Florida, I think I just found my favorite city. I love everything about St. Petersburg. The art, nightlife, beach life, and local shops are just a few of the reasons we keep going back. I have been to St Pete before but I guess I never really explored it much.

We recently took a couple trips over here and we like it so much we even talked about moving to that side of town. It's such a quaint yet lively city. Keep reading if you want to know about the best things to do in St Petersburg!

Best Bars in Orlando

12/20/2019

The Orlando bar scene is evergrowing with speakeasies, holiday themed bars, and craft breweries. Going to a bar has become so much more than just drinking. It's about socializing in a setting you enjoy. Whether you prefer a chill night or more lively one, this city has it all. There's truly something to fit everyone's needs. Here's a list of the best bars in Orlando.

The Robinson Cocktail Room

Stepping into this bar is like stepping back in time. The disco room, velvet couches, and mood lighting gives you a 60's feel. The building itself is from the 19th century. It was commissioned for Norman Robinson (a chemist) in 1884. The bar stays true to its history with the "lab" where all the drinks are made and the decor that leans itself to the theme with pill bottles, flasks and artwork.

We highly recommend their craft cocktails. The "Just Be Clear" is delicious if you like something light and fruity. If you're hungry, their small plates are more than just bar food. We're obsessed with their Parmesan Truffle Fries and Korean Short Rib Bites. Make sure to check out their happy hour every day from 6-8pm for $3 off cocktails and $2 off beer and wine. This place has become our favorite bar in Downtown Orlando!
