Sometimes it's hard to come up with places to go to on a date night. It's easy to go to the same places you've been going to because you know you'll love it. This is why we decided to dedicate a portion of our blog to date night ideas. Duncan and I love trying new restaurants and visiting cool spots. If we find that a place is date night worthy, we'll curate a post about it to help you plan the perfect night for you and your significant other. So, don't worry about having to come up with cool things to do to impress your spouse, we've got you covered.
With that being said, here's our first date night post! When we think of going somewhere for a date, our immediate thought goes to places in Lake Nona. It has so many quality restaurants, cool venues, and it's generally a nice area. We always have a good time so wanted to share this so we can help you plan the perfect night with your loved one.
This is where your night will start. Duncan and I are pretty obsessed with this restaurant. I'm not lying when I say we've never had anything we didn't like here. We've come quite a few times and try to get something different every time because everything on the menu is always delicious. I love the fact that all of the plates are small and shareable. It gives you the opportunity to try different things and makes for an interactive date. Their menu is designed to inspire connectivity. You'll find yourself talking about the flavors of the food and which dish you enjoyed best.
The restaurant is dimly lit to create the perfect romantic setting. The decor is modern and clean. It has a large, open feel to it. There's a lot of seating options in the bar and lounge as well as an outdoor area. Every time we've gone the service has been great. All of the servers are knowledgeable with great recommendations and there's always a manager checking on every table. We've never had a bad experience here.
Now, let's get to the good part - the food. I have never had a bad dish, that includes taste and presentation. The plates are all crafted beautifully with attention to detail. I love that because it sets the bar high for what you will experience when you dig into it.
The flavors are just as good, if not better, than the presentation. They are so consistent that we already know we're going to have amazing food every time we come. Although you can't go wrong with what you order, here are some dishes we highly recommend:
- Grilled Skirt Steak We get the steak medium and it's always cooked perfectly. The combination of the steak with the blue cheese wedge salad is amazing.
- Brussels Sprouts Trust me, I know how basic this sounds but it's one of their most popular dishes. The crispy brussels sprouts with the light, sweet sauce will make you love vegetables again.
- Baked House Meatball The sauce on this dish will have you wanting to lick the plate. It's the best meatball I've ever had.
- Roasted Bone Marrow The flavors in this dish are insane. The bone marrow paired with a crispy piece of bread is perfection.
- Butterscotch Bread Pudding If you're a bread pudding lover like us, you'll love biting into the soft, ward bread combined with the creamy butterscotch ice cream.
We haven't had everything on the menu but I'm sure the rest of their food won't disappoint. This is our favorite restaurant in Orlando and when you're done it will probably be up there on your list too.
Now that you're full and satisfied you can walk over to Boxi Park. It's an outdoor venue that offers food truck style eateries, live music, bars, and a playground and beach volleyball court. There's so much to do here with your family, friends, and of course your spouse. Personally, we like to come here for a post-dinner drink.
There are 3 bars you can get a drink from - Bar Nona, Hops and Vine, and La Cajita. Whether you're into beer, wine, or cocktails, there's something for everyone to enjoy all in one spot. We usually go to Hops and Vine to get a craft beer. They have brews on tap from local breweries and tons of wine to choose from. If you like margaritas and sangrias, check out La Cajita. Their drinks are made with fresh ingredients every morning. Bar Nona has a mixture of beers, wines, and cocktails.
Once we have our drink we'll either walk around or take a seat by the stage area. The atmosphere is so inviting. There's always music playing and people just hanging out having a good time. I love coming here when the weather's just perfect outside. On most nights you can enjoy a free live concert by a local band or watch a game on their large TV. If you didn't get dessert from Chroma, you can enjoy some ice cream from Before It Melts. It's the perfect place to wind down after the date and spend some time together
We hope this helps the next time you're stuck on where to take your spouse for a date night. We'll be creating more of these guides to help you plan out the perfect night. Don't forget to follow us @roamsick and tag us so we can see where you roam to!
