I've always wanted to go on a picnic but honestly never wanted to put in the effort to set it up. It seems like such a hassle to have to buy everything, set it up, get food, and the have to take it all down. When Orlando Picnic reached out to us we thought this company had such an amazing, unique concept.
Orlando Picnic sets everything up for you. They have the blankets, pillows, basket, water, games, boards, and even a donut wall! All you have to do is pick a time and place and they'll have everything ready for you by the time you get there.
You can customize your picnic however you'd like. They have different color scheme options and you can have them write a message on the board. It was such a cute date for our anniversary. We loved how different it was than the usual dinner at a restaurant. We also chose the most gorgeous location, Kraft Azalea Park in Winter Park. They set up the picnic under some tall trees to provide enough shade so it wasn't so hot.
We really appreciated the attention to detail. They had a beautiful tablescape with neutral colors, fruit infused water that was actually really good and refreshing, utensils, a sanitizing station, and a game of Tic Tac Toe to play.
Here's what a picnic package includes:
pallet table, decorative pillows, personalized chalk board & letter board, plates, decorative flowers, decorative banner, wood crate box, water container filled, sanitizing kit, games (optional), ice bucket filled, set up & clean up
You can also add-on a couple of things like the garnished water, hammock, juice bar, grazing 8x8 board, local bakery pastries, donut wall, and corn hole.
It was such an amazing date and we highly recommend them for your next special occasion!
If you are looking for an affordable date night that will take you back in time, the drive-in theatre is the way to go. We drove an hour west of Orlando to see what it was all about and we now understand why they were so popular in the 50's and 60's. It's almost a shame that there aren't more theaters like it.
Sometimes it's hard to come up with places to go to on a date night. It's easy to go to the same places you've been going to because you know you'll love it. This is why we decided to dedicate a portion of our blog to date night ideas. Duncan and I love trying new restaurants and visiting cool spots. If we find that a place is date night worthy, we'll curate a post about it to help you plan the perfect night for you and your significant other. So, don't worry about having to come up with cool things to do to impress your spouse, we've got you covered.
With that being said, here's our first date night post! When we think of going somewhere for a date, our immediate thought goes to places in Lake Nona. It has so many quality restaurants, cool venues, and it's generally a nice area. We always have a good time so wanted to share this so we can help you plan the perfect night with your loved one.
Looking to plan the perfect date night? We have got you covered with this simple date night itinerary in the Mills 50 district. Everything is within walking distance to each other, so you don't have to worry about driving too far.
We started this "date night" series on our blog because we love to go out and know what a struggle it is when it comes to picking a good place. We make do the research, go to the best places and create the best night out for you and your date.
First, tacos at Black Rooster Taqueria
If you've seen our previous blog post about Mexican restaurants, you know this one is one of our favorites. If your date is a taco lover, then this is a must. The ingredients are simple yet tasty. The space is small but decked out with lights and reclaimed wooden furniture. The kitchen is open so you can see your food being made. You order your food at the cash register and they'll bring it out to you. It's a great spot if you love good food. The carne asada tacos and guacamole are our favorite items on the menu.
Monday - Closed
Tuesday - Thursday & Sunday 11am-2pm, 5pm-9pm
Friday - Saturday 11am-2pm, 5pm-10pm
Then, drinks at Sunroom
Once you're done enjoying tacos, walk yourself right next door to Sunroom. It's a very chill spot with chic decor and plants in every corner. Make sure to get here right as the sun is setting. The way it peeps in through the windows creates such a calming ambiance. You can see how this bar got its name.
Grab a table, a pretty cocktail, and enjoy each others company. Their drink menu is so extensive that there's something for everyone. It's organized by types of liquor, so you'll know just what to get depending on your taste.
Wednesday - Saturday 6pm - 2am
End the night at The Guesthouse
If you liked the setting at Sunroom, then you'll love the bar right next door. This is their sister bar, so the vibes are very similar. We go more into detail about it in our blog post about Orlando bars. It's a quaint spot that makes for the ideal setting for an intimate date night. The lighting is dim, the decor is minimal, and there's background music, making it a cozy space.
The cocktails are hand crafted to perfection. We love getting the Tom Collins and Humming Bird. It's a great place to wind down and end your date night.
Monday - Friday 4pm-2am
Saturday - Sunday 12pm-2am
