A Travel & Local Blog
Duncan and I love to eat. Who doesn't though? We love discovering new local spots and trying different food. We look for a new restaurant every time we decide to eat out. But, like many people in the restaurant industry, Duncan gets off work really late. I always anxiously await the "Do you want to eat?" text when he clocks out. We NEVER eat fast-food so it's difficult to find a decent place to eat when it's nearing midnight. Luckily, Orlando has a few options and we've pretty much tried them all thanks to my constantly hungry boyfriend. I've compiled a list for all of you late night foodies who are tired of Bigmacs and Crunchwrap Supremes.
I try to be healthy but as long as pizza bigger than my face exists, I will always choose that over anything. Lazy Moon is the perfect place to go when you have a late night pizza craving and don't want to spend a lot of money. They're open until 2:30 a.m. on weekends and have soooo many options. Duncan usually goes for a chicken and spinach pizza and I like to enjoy some sort of white pizza with veggies on top. Trust me when I say one pizza will fill you up. The slices are huge but that's what makes this place so great. They also have a good selection of beer and we always try something different every time we go. It's our go-to pizza place when we want something quick and delicious.
Duncan brought me here on our first date about 2 years ago. I just remember letting him do most of the talking because I was nervous on top of being an INCREDIBLY shy person. I was a vegetarian at the time and (lucky for him) they actually have an entire section for vegetarians. I ordered some sort of avocado "chicken" sandwich and my favorite beer of all time - Schofferhofer (grapefruit beer). I've never had anything here that I didn't like. The Cuban Roast Pork Dip is amazing. I've also tried the margherita pizza, chicken lettuce wraps, turkey burger (Duncan's favorite), roasted turkey club, fried chicken sandwich, and I would recommend all of it. There's so much on the menu so it's perfect for large groups with different tastes. For dessert we either get the cheesecake brûlée (of course) or the trio which includes a cheesecake brûlée and peach apple cobbler. It's as good as it sounds. We've also tried the bread pudding and it's now our favorite dessert on the menu. Yard House is open until 1:20 a.m. on the weekends and has a late night happy hour with half priced appetizers and pizzas. It's our all time favorite restaurant to go to. They just added a brunch on Saturday & Sunday which we're dying to try.
Hawkers Asian Street Fare
We discovered this place a couple months ago and have already been there more times than I can count. Asian food never fails us. Every time we go we just order a bunch of plates and share, which is what the menu is designed for. The Roti Canai and Yi-Yi's Chicken Dumplings are my favorite. Duncan loves the Beef Haw Fun dish. The wide rice noodles they use are so bomb. We always get the Lucky Buddha beer which has such a crisp taste and comes in the cutest buddha-shaped bottle. Let's get to the best thing on the menu though - the dessert. I'm not exaggerating when I say that the Cinnamon Roti á la mode is literally the best dessert I've ever had. It's a quesadilla-like dessert filled with a cinnamon cream cheese and topped with vanilla ice cream and fried dough crisps. Duncan and I were so close to getting the creme brûlée (we always go for that if it's an option on the menu) but fortunately it was sold out and we got to try this magical dessert. Seriously, try it I promise it won't disappoint. They have recently added Jo-He Bag O' Donuts which is now tied with the cinnamon roti for best dessert. This restaurant isn't open as late as the other ones but it is open until 12:30 a.m. on weekends.
IZZIBAN SUSHI & BBQ
Sushi is a newfound love of mine. I have a severe allergy so I never liked going to places that sell a lot of seafood. For a while I thought I was allergic to all seafood but about two years ago I found out I only had a shellfish allergy. After discovering that, I tried sushi for the first time and fell in love. Of course, I carry my epi-pen with me everywhere I go and try to stray away from raw fish. Duncan and I usually go for the sweet potato and chicken rolls with spicy mayo. Soooooo good. They're 2 for $9 on happy hour from 10 p.m. - 12 a.m. Duncan is a huge fan of dumplings so we always get the pork gyoza which is also on the happy hour menu. We recently tried their fried chicken with thai chill sauce and ended up getting three orders of them because they were that good. They also offer Korean BBQ here which is really good but come with an empty stomach. They're open until 2 a.m. and are always pretty full - with reason because who doesn't love late night sushi?
Hope this helps with your late night munchies! :)
